Another book launch!

It seems that while I always have good intentions to keep this blog going, life gets in the way. It seems that I have not posted since the start of the year, and Things Have Happened.

My newest Modern Tudor Mystery, A DEFIANT WOMAN, debuted on March 3! I am so thrilled with this book—and others seem to think the same. I received my very first starred review in 20 years of publishing from Booklist:

"With a satisfying end and the promise of further installments, this reimagined nod to Henry VIII’s wives is both entertaining and may spark interest in the historical figures who inspired these fictional representations. Fans of Henry VIII’s wives and/or Liane Moriarty, Hank Phillippi Ryan, or Laura Dave will enjoy every moment."

And Publishers Weekly also weighed in:

"The wives, children, and courtiers of Henry VIII are shrewdly reimagined as contemporary acquaintances of billionaire businessman Hank Tudor in Olson’s entertaining sequel to An Inconvenient Wife. Mapping Olson’s sprawling cast onto their 16th-century inspirations is wicked fun for readers and Nan (the series’ Anne Boleyn) proves a particularly fascinating protagonist. There are enough surprises and Easter eggs on offer to leave readers primed for the next installment. It’s royally amusing."

I have had some book events, at RJ Julia in Madison, CT; Mysterious Bookshop in New York City; and Gibson's Bookstore in Concord, NH. I've got a couple more lined up, although I'm going to be taking a break come May as I've got trip to Europe coming up, our first since before Covid.

It's always a little daunting to send a book out into the world: What will people think of it? Will anyone show up for my events? So far, people seem to like it, and yes, people are showing up for events.

I am also working on the next book, although I don't have a contract for this one yet. Fingers crossed that my publisher wants to continue the series. I am no stranger to publishers wanting to end my series, but I have so many more Tudor stories to tell and fingers crossed that they want to see them!

I hope wherever you are, you'll check out A DEFIANT WOMAN.
